Reality and Dreams

Writing is a way of being useful, if you believe that our long suffering humanity should be more and better educated in the face of the incredible ignorance we are all shrouded in, except for the researchers who resort to science in their quest for satisfactory answers. It is a word that implies its infinite content in just a few letters.

In our younger years, we all heard some time about Einstein, particularly after the blast of the atom bombs that were dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which put an end to the cruel war that broke out between Japan and the United States. When those bombs were dropped, after the war that came about as a result of the attack on the US military base in Pearl Harbor, the Japanese empire had already been defeated.  The United States, whose territory and industries remained unaffected by the war, became the best armed and wealthiest country on Earth, in a world ravaged by the war, with a huge number of deadly casualties, wounded and hungry people.  The USSR and China combined had lost more than 50 million human lives, which added up to an enormous material destruction.  Almost all the gold of the world ended up in the US coffers. Today, it has been estimated that the entire monetary reserve in gold of that country amounts to 8 133.5 tons. Despite that, the United States, tearing to shreds the commitments entered into in Bretton Woods, unilaterally declared that they would not honor their duty to back the Troy ounce with the equivalent of their paper money in gold.

Such measure decreed by Nixon violated the commitments entered into by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  Thus, according to a high number of experts on that subject, they paved the way for a crisis that, among other disasters, is threatening to deal a storming blow to the economy of that country model.  Meanwhile, Cuba is owed compensations for damages, which amount to several millions of US dollars, as has been denounced by our country, with irrefutable arguments and data, during its interventions at the United Nations.

As was stated with utmost clarity by the Party and the Government of Cuba, as a token of good will and peace among all the countries of this hemisphere and all the peoples that are part of the human family, and with the purpose of contributing to guarantee the survival of our species in the humble space that we occupy in this universe, we will never give up our struggle for peace and the wellbeing of all human beings, regardless of the color of their skin or the country of origin of each inhabitant in this planet, and the full right of all to profess or not a religious belief.

Equal opportunities for all citizens to health care, education, employment, food, security, culture, science and wellbeing, that is to say, the same rights that we proclaimed when we began our struggle, in addition those that might emerge from our dreams of justice and equality for all the inhabitants of our world, is what I wish to everyone; and to those who share, whether in whole or in part, the same or much loftier ideals, as long as they point to the same direction, I convey my gratitude, dear compatriots.
